Changes in MegaMillions game rules make the game even better

In order to make MegaMillions even more fun to play, and set the stage for more record jackpots, the folks behind MegaMillions have made a few juicy changes in their game rules. So for us, all these changes apply for the MegaMillions game included in ProSpring and ProSpring VIP Syndicates, as well as to all MegaMillions single lottery tickets available for purchase at www.lottospring.com.

What do they mean for you? Are they good or bad?

These changes are definitely good for the lottery players, because they guarantee bigger jackpots, more winners and better smaller prizes…

All the changes are valid from 28.10.2017 and took effect from Tuesday’s draw on 31st October 2017.  We’ve already applied all the changes automatically for Syndicate members and made single tickets available for sale according to new rules.

The main changes include:

  1. Increased the minimum guaranteed jackpot from $15 million to $40 million
  2. Improved odds for the second-tier prize
  3. Increased smaller prizes
  4. Changes in main number selection. The range of main numbers to choose has decreased from 1 to 75 to 1 to 70.
  5. Changes in Mega ball selection. The range of Mega ball numbers has increased from 1 to 15 to 1 to 25.

Please see a table below to compare previous rules (before 28th October) with current rules (from 28th October).

The main purpose of changes made by MegaMIllions lottery is to be competitive with the other huge American lottery – Powerball. With these changes MegaMillions can also now offer record-breaking jackpot prizes.  For example, the last record Powerball lottery prize was $1.58 billion in January 2016.

As a result of the MegaMillions changes, not only will the chances of big winnings for Pro and VIP members increase, but also regular winnings from each MegaMillions draw are now higher too.
